SOIL Dreams: If you had all the time and cash in the world and were to build an organization of your own what would you like to create?
Everyone has a dream but very often, the moment you remove the rose tinted glasses, the glaring realities stare you square in the face. I come from a modest background… my father was with the armed forces and I always knew that I had to find my own path, chart my own destiny. There has always been a burning desire to excel, to be the best. And to create a business that is the envy of all. If I had all the time and cash in the world I would start my own chain of boutique hotels.
Foolhardy some would say, given the fact that recession or no recession the hotel industry has also been hit. However, it is something I feel passionately about. I find the industry fascinating and I want to create a chain for a very exclusive and niche market. While it is already a competitive industry and most hotels are cutting their losses I believe that the right product targeted at the right audience could turn things around in a different time and space. I want to build my own chain of boutique hotels because I feel there is a need to change from the traditional 5 star model and provide people a trendy and modern experience. It would be something off the beaten track with a vibrant and young feel.
It would give a feel of warmth and would not be over powering for people yet it would have very subtle tones of being stylish and suave. At locations where nature plays a big role it would try and keep people as close to the natural aspects of life in a very modern setting.
